LAN(Local Area Network)

A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area network. It is made up of servers, workstations, a network operating system and a communications link. Servers are high-speed machines that hold programs and data shared by all network users. The workstations, or clients, are the users personal computers, which perform stand-alone processing and access the network servers as required. The controlling software in a LAN(Local Area Network) is the network operating system , such as Windows NT, NetWare or UNIX , which resides on a server. A component part of the software resides in each workstation and allows the application to read and write data from the server as if it were on the local machine. The physical transfer of data is performed by th e access method(Ethernet, Token Ring etc.) which is implemented in the network adapters that plug into the workstations.The actual communications path is the cable (twisted pair, coax,optical fiber )that interconnectsesch each network adapter. Nó được hợp thành các server ,các trạm làm việc, một hệ điều hành mạng và một liên kết truyền thông.Các server là các máy tính có tốc độ cao chứa các chương trính và dữ liệu được chia sẻ cho tất cả ngươi sử dụng mạng . Các trạm làm việc hoãc các client là các máy tính cá nhân của những người sử dụng, thực hiện thuwchieejn xủ lý riêng lẽ và truy cậpserver mạng khi được yêu cầu.Một phần mềm điều khiển trong một LAN(Local Area Network) là hệ điều hành mạng, như Windows NT, Net Ware hay UNIX nằm trong một server. Một phần bộ phận phần mềm nằm trong mỗi trạm làm việc và cho phép trính ứng dụng đôc và viết dữ liệu tù server nhú thể nó ở trên một máy cục bộ.Sự truyền tải vật lý của dữ liệu được thành lập bằng phương pháp ruy câp (Ethernet,Token Ring, v,v,được thực hiên trong các thiết bị điều họp mạng cắm vào các trạm làm việc và các server. Một đường dẫn truyền thông thực sự là dây câp (hai dây xoắn, cáp đồng trục , sợi quang)nối với mỗi bộ điều họp mạng. Xem MAN, WAN,bridge,router,gateway và hub.
