absolute cell reference

A spreadsheet cell reference that does not adjust when you copy a formula. Use an absolute cell feference to keep the reference the same when you copy it. For example, the following Lotus 1-2-3 formula contains a relative cell reference (B12 and an absolute cell reference ($A$6). The formula tells 1-2-3 to multiply B12 by the contents of cell $A$6 and place the result in the current cell: +B12*$A$6 When you copy this formula to the next row down and the next column to the right , 1-2-3 changes the formula to +C13*$A$6. The relative cell reference is adjusted, but the absolute cell reference stays the same. Useabsolute cell feferences to establish a fixed place for key variables for your worksheet.
