TOP(Technical Ofice Protocol)

A communications protocol for office systems from Boeing Computer Services. It uses the Ethernet access method and is often used in conjunction with MAP, the factory automation protocol developed by GM. TOP is used in the front office, and MAP is used on the factory floor. TOP uses the CSMA/CD access method, while MAP uses token bus.
