spreadsheet

Software that simulates a paper spreadsheet, or worksheet, in which columns of numbers are summed for budgets and plans. It appears on screen as a matrix of rows and columns, the intersections of which are identified as cells.
Spreadsheets can have thousands of cells and can be scrolled horizontally and vertically in order to view them. The heart of the spreadsheet is the formula, which is used to add, subtract, multiply or divide the contents of any call or group of cells. The formula automatically recalculates whenever any call that is referenced is changed.
