(1) (Storage Management System) Software used to routinely back up and archive files. See HSM.

(2) (Storage Management Services) Software from Novell that allows data to be stored and retrieved on NetWare servers independent of the file system the data is maintained in (DOS, OS/2, Mac, etc.). It is used to back up data from heterogeneous clients on the network.

(3) (Systems Management Server) Systems management software from Microsoft that runs on Windows NT Server. It requires a Microsoft SQL Server database and is used to distribute software, analyze network usage and perform various administration tasks.

(2) (Storage Management Services) Phần mềm của Novell cho phép dữ liệu được lưu trữ và được truy tìm trên các server NetWare độc lập với hệ thống file mà dữ liệu được duy trì trong (DOS, Ó/2, Mac,…). Nó được dùng để lưu dự phòng dữ liệu từ các client không đồng nhất trên mạng.

(3) (System Management Server) Phần mềm quản lý hiện thống của Microsoft chạy trên Windows NT Server. Nó yêu cầu một cơ sở dữ liệu Microsoft SQL Server và được dùng để phân phối phần mềm, phân tích cách sử dụng mạng và thực hiện các tác vụ quản lý khác nhau.
