Newton

A set of mobile computing technologies from Newton, Inc., Cupertino, CA. The Newton operating system, which includes hand printing recognition, was originally developed by Apple and first used in its MessagePad personal digital assistant (PDA) in 1993. The technology is used in a variety of products from other vendors. In 1997, Apple spun off Newton into a wholly owned subsidiary.
