LBA(Logical Block Addressing)

A method used to support IDE hard disks larger than 504MB(528,4823,304 byes) on PCs. The enhanced IDE standard (ATA-2) specified this method, whice provides a cyclinder-headerr-sector translation in the BIOS. LBA is required for compatibility with the FAT32 dirctory.
