IDE

(1) (Integrated Drive Electronics) A type of hardware interface widely used to connect hard disks, CDROMs and tape drives to a PC. IDE incorporates the controller within the drive itself, lowering the cost of the total peripheral system. The drives connect to the computer by attaching to an IDE host adapter that is either on a plugin card or on the motherboard. The original IDE host adapter supported two disks. Starting in 1994, second generation Enhanced IDE(EIDE) host adapters provide a second channel for two more disk, tape or CDROM drives. Today , most mother-boards have EIDE built in and provide two sockets for a total of four devices.

(2) (Integrated Development Environment) A set of programs run from a single user interface. For example, programming languages often include a text editor, compiler and function from a common menu.

(1) (Điện tử Drive thích hợp) một kiểu giao diện phần cứng được dùng phổ biến để nối kết các đĩa cứng, các CDROM và các ổ băng vào một PC. IDE liên kết các controller bên trong chính drive, giảm chi phí của toàn bộ hệ thống thiết bị ngoại vi. Ổ đĩa nối kết vào máy tính bằng cách kết vào một adapter chủ IDE vốn hoặc nằm trong một card plugin hoặc nằm trên board mẹ. Adapter chủ IDE gốc đã hỗ trợ hai đĩa.
