GOSIP(Government Open Systems Interconnection Profile)

A U.S. government mandate for compliance with OSI standards after 1990. Since broad adoption of OSI never came to fruition, GOSIP evolved into POSIT( Profiles for Open Systems Internetworking Technologies), which is a set of non-mandatory standards that acknowledge the widespread use of TCP/IP.
