edge connector

The protruding part of an expansion board that is inserted into an expansion slot. It contains a series of printed lines that go to and come from the circuits on the board. When inserted in the slot, the edge connector connects the expansion board to the motherboard so between them. On PCs, the number of lines (pins), line width and depth differ on the various interfaces (ISA, EISA, VESA and Micro Channel).
