dots per inch(dpi)

A measure of printer resolution that counts the dots that the device can produce per linear inch. In describing screen resolutions, the practice is to state the resolution in horizontal pixels (picture elements) by vertical lines, rather than stating a dpi figure. For example, the resolution of a Super VGA monitor is 800 horizontal pixels by 600 vertical lines.

Trong việc dien giải độ phân giải của màn hình, thực tế người ta đưa ra số lượng pixel (picture element phần từ ảnh) trên chiều ngang nhân với số lượng dòng chiều đứng, khác với cách dien đại dpi của hình. Ví dụ, độ phân giải của màn hình Super VGA chẳng hạn, là 800 pixel ngang nhân với 600 dòng chiều dọc.
