disk capacity

The storage capacity of a floppy disk or hard disk, measured in kilobytes (K) or megabytes (M). The capacity of a floppy disk depends on the size of the disk, the density of the magnetic particles on its surface, and the capabilities of the drive you use to format the disk. The two most popular disk sizes are 5.23 inch floppy disks and 3.5 inch micro floppy disks. Singlesided disks were once common, but are all but obsolete now; doublesided disks are the norm. Also standard today is the doubledensity disk; available at a higher cost is the highdensity disk. The third variable is the operating system you use to format the disk and the capabilities of the disk drive you are using. The following table shows the relationship of the variables.
