desktop manager

The part of a GUI that displays the desktop and icons, allows programs to be launched from the icon and files to be visually dragged & dropped, copied and deleted. The desktop manager and window manager make up the GUI, which are all included in the Mac and Windows. In UNIX desktops, the desktop manager is a thirdparty addon.
