(1) (Distributed Communications System) A telephone system that puts small switches close to subscribers making local loops shorter and maxinizing long lines to the central office.

(2) (Distributed Control System) A process control system that uses disbursed computers throughout the manufacturing line for control.

(3) (Digital Crossconnect System) A highspeed data channel switch that accepts separate instructions for switching independently of the data travelling through it.

(4) (Desktop Color Separation) The QuarkXpress format for defining color separated output from a personal computer.
