Founded in 1988, Cyrix is a manufacturer of x86 compatible CPU chips it’s first product was a math coprocessor. In 1992, it introduced a line of 486 CPUs, later followed by the 6 x 86 Pentium class and 6x 86 Mx Pentium II class chips. Cyrix is expected to merge with and become a wholly owned subsidiary of National Semiconductor. See also Citrix.
