bus network

In local area networks, a decentralized net-work in which a single connecting line, the bus, is shared by a number of nodes, including workstations, shared peripherals, and file servers. In a bus network, a workstation sends a message to all other workstations. Each node in the network, how-ever, has a unique address, and its reception circuitry constantly monitors the bus to determine whether a message is being sent to the node. A message sent to the Laser Printer node, for example, is ignored by the other nodes in the network.
