blessed folder

The Macintosh’s System Folder, equivalent to a DOS subdirectory and containg files loaded at the beginning of an operating system-the System-consults this folder when the computer cannot locate a program file. The blessed folder is like a DOS directory named in the PATH command. A major limitation of the the Macintosh operating system, however, is that the System Folder is the only folder the System consults when it cannot find a file. Macintosh users, therefore, are obliged to place all the configuration files required by their application programs in this folder, which can quickly grow so large that keeping track of its contents is difficult.
