Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM)

In multimedia, a method of digital wave-form sampling where the difference between successive samples is encoded rather than their actual values. This technique provides higher ifdelity sound with fewer bits of resolution than conventional pulse code modulation (PCM) encoding techniques. Using ADPCM, you can increase the quantity of audio information that can be stored on a single compact disk from 1 hour to about 16 hours.
