Linking related information. For example, by selecting a word in a sentence, information about that word is retrieved if it exists, or the next occurrence of the word is found. The concept was coined by Ted Nelson as a method for making the computer respond to the way humans think and require information. Hypertext is the foundation of the World Wide Web. Links embedded within Web pages are addresses to other server anywhere in the world.
