HSM(Hierarchical Storage Management)

Moving data is no longer media when the data is no longer needed for daily use. Since magnetic disks are the most expensive storage medium, data is automatically moved based on age and other criteria. The typical hierarchy is from magnetic disk to optical disk to offline tape. Data on a hard disk is accessed in a fraction of a second. On an optical jukebox, it takes several seconds.

Khi các đĩa từ tính là phương tiện lưu trữ đắt tiền, dữ liệu được di chuyển từ đĩa từ tính đến đĩa quang học rồi đến băng tù ngoại tuyến. Dữ liệu trên đĩa cứng được truy cập trong một phần của giây. Trên một máy hát loại jukebox quang học, nó mất một vài giây.
