base/displacement

A machine architecture that runs programs no matter where they reside in memory. Addresses in a machine language program are displacement addresses, which are relative to the beginning of the program. At runtime, the hardware adds the program (base address) to each displacement address and derives an absolute address for execution. All modern computers use some form of base/displacement or offset mechanism in order to to run multiple programs in memory at the same time.

Một cấu trúc máy vốn chạy các chương trình cho dù chúng thường trú tại vị trí nào trong bộ nhớ. Các địa chỉ trong một chương trình ngôn ngũ máy là các địa chỉ dịch chuyển vốn liên quan đến phần đầu của chương trính. Vào thời gian chạy, phần cứng bổ sung địa chỉ của byte đầu tiên hiện hành trong chương trính (địa chỉ cơ sở) mỗi địa chỉ dịch chuyển và một địa chỉ tuyệt đối để thi hành. Tất cả máy tính mới sử dụng một dạng cơ cấu cơ sở/dich chuyển hay cơ cấu dịch chuyển để chạy nhiều chương trình trong bộ nhớ cùng một lúc.
