The analysis, classification and maintenance of an organization’s data and data relationships. It includes the development of data models and datadictionaries, which, combined with transaction volume, are the raw materials for database design. Database administration often falls within the jurisdiction of data administration; however, data administration functions provide the overall management of data as an organizational resource. Database administration is the technical design and management of the database.
