DirectX

A set of multimedia programming interfaces from Microsoft for Windows 95 and NT that provide low level access to the hardware for improved performance. DirectDraw and Direct3D provide 2D and 3D graphics. DirectSound enables mixing multiple sound sources for sound cards. DirectPlay provides control for multiple users playing the Internet. DirectInput provides control for advanced digital input devices for games and virtual reality.
