DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)

An algorithm, similar to Fast Fourier Transform, that converts data (pixels, waveforms, etc.) into sets of frequencies. The first frequencies in the set are the most meaningful; the latter, the least. Forcompression, latter frequencies are stripped away based on allowable resolution loss. The DCT method is used in the JPEG and MPEG compression.

Một thuật toán, tương tự như Fast Fourier Transform, Vốn chuyển đổi dữ liệu (các pixel, dạng sóng, …) thành các tập hợp tần số. Các tần số đầu tiên trong tập hợp có ý nghĩa nhất; các tần số càng đứng sau càng ít ý nghĩa. Đối với việc nén, các tần số đứng sau bị loại bỏ dựa trên độ phân giải cho phép bị mất. Phương pháp DCT được sử dụng trong tính năng nén JPEG và MPEG.
