DB9,DB15,DB25..(DB9, DB15, DB25, DB37, DB50)

A category of plugs and sockets with 9, 15, 25, 37 and 50 pins respectively, used to hook up communications and computer devices. The DB refers to the physical structure of the connector, not the purpose of each line. DB9 and DB25 connectors are commonly used for RS232 interfaces. The DB25 is also used on the computer end of the parallel printer cable for PCs (the printer end is a Centronics 36pin connector). A highdensity DB15 connector is used for the VGA port on a PC, which has 15 pins in the same shell as the DB9 connector.
